Description

This is a graduate seminar that critically examines recent work in the subfield that is sometimes called “(Critical) Philosophy of Race.” We will look at debates over the concept and metaphysics of race. We will think through what racism is and what makes it wrongful. We will consider some proposals for how, from the standpoint of justice, we should respond to problems of race and racism. We will also give some attention to the concepts "white supremacy" and "racial capitalism."
