Course Information

Description

This course will immerse students in the practical side of global nutrition with a focus on specific programs and policy and the organizations/practitioners implementing them today.  We will begin with a foundational presentation of the frameworks used to design, implement and evaluate global nutrition programs.  For the remainder of the course, students will undertake an analysis of 7 contemporary global nutrition challenges and be connected to professionals and institutions working at the forefront of these issues.

The goal of the course is to expose students to global nutrition programs and professionals in action, providing both a theoretical and practical foundation to effectively diagnose pressing global nutrition challenges, as well as compare and propose responsive global nutrition programs.  Invited speakers will introduce current-day programmatic action that they have led, and when relevant, frame the complexities and challenges encountered using the frameworks presented in class.  Students will have the unique opportunity to meaningfully engage with global nutrition experts and will be challenged to analyze evidence on current-day programs as they prepare a final advisory proposal of their own.
