Course Information
Description
This course will facilitate students' critical thinking about psychotherapy and how to understand the latest research in psychotherapy outcomes and empirical evidence. This will include an overview of the impact the Evidence-Based Medicine movement has had in psychotherapy and how this relates to traditional psychotherapies like psychoanalysis. The course will balance clinically grounded consideration of research evidence with critical thinking about how psychotherapy research is conducted and how practicing in an evidence-based manner in psychotherapy extends beyond familiarity with research. This course will be beneficial for those interested in psychiatry or behavioral health regardless of whether it will be a primary practice area. This course will consist of 6 sessions, each 1.5 hours long. Learning activities will include lecture, guided activities, and discussion of assigned readings.
