Course Information
Description
Modern Greek Bb is the second course in the Intermediate Modern Greek language sequence (MODGREEK Ba & MODGREEK Bb). Building on Modern Greek Ba, this course further develops confidence, fluency, and flexibility in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Through active and creative engagement with authentic materials—including art, music, film, literature, social media, and contemporary cultural discourse—students use Greek to explore ideas, exchange perspectives, and express themselves across a range of personal, academic, and professional contexts. The course emphasizes active and creative language usage through extended conversation and multimodal engagement with texts, images, media, and peers, while expanding students’ ability to narrate, describe, and reflect across a wider range of experiences such as travel and excursions, nature and weather, and hobbies and pastimes, with increasing control over how they situate events in time. By the end of the semester, students will be able to participate with increasing ease and spontaneity in conversations that go beyond immediate needs and interests, and produce connected speech and writing on a range of personal, cultural, and professional subjects with growing accuracy, coherence, and independence.
