Course Information

Description

This first course in Medical and Dental School is required for all entering medical and dental students. Introduction to the Profession covers several of the central themes in the medical profession. Through this course, the entering class develops a shared foundational understanding of these themes and how they apply to the practice of medicine. The course touches on some of the intellectual, moral and ethical expectations placed upon students as they transition to the role of physician-in-training.  There is an emphasis on collaboration and discourse as the entering class begins to form a community. The course meets for most of each day and involves both large and small group experiences.
