Description

This seminar examines the Virgin Mary as a theological and gendered figure in material culture, with particular attention to how her body is mediated through objects of dress. The motif of the Virgin Mary's red shoes serves as a central case study, situating it alongside other iconographic elements and spacial placement of her body.
