Course Information

Description

In today's dynamic and complex healthcare landscape, the ability to analyze, interpret, and leverage data for informed decision-making is crucial for achieving and sustaining high-quality patient care outcomes. The curriculum is tailored to equip physician executives and managers with the knowledge, skills, and strategic mindset to lead and oversee quality management, patient safety and improvement initiatives in health organizations. Using selected readings, case studies, lecture presentations, extensive classroom discussions, and homework assignments students will apply quality improvement tools with quantitative analysis to identify opportunities for improvement, prioritize areas of focus, measure the impact of changes, and support data-driven decision-making to applied projects. Students will be expected to apply the concepts they have learned to plan and execute a quality improvement project in their respective health organization for the “sister” course, HCM 758 Field Project in Quality Improvement. Upon completing this course, students will be empowered and well-equipped to lead transformative quality improvement initiatives, leveraging quantitative tools and data-driven strategies to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency to improve healthcare delivery within their organizations..
