Course Information
Description
This course applies ethical reasoning to recent developments in biotechnology, healthcare, and medicine. Using a discussion-based approach we explore how biotechnological advancements reshape our social relationships, inform public policy, and ultimately change what it means to be human. Some of the questions we ask: Should parents be allowed to choose their “best possible child” through genetic selection? Could artificial wombs solve the abortion debate? Is aging something to be “cured”? Should we regulate technology that aims to achieve immortality?
