Subject & Catalog Number
Course Information
Description
An exploration of German audio media from early radio plays and radio art (Hörspiel, Radiokunst) to contemporary media. The course cultivates critical listening skills through engagement with a broad range of genres spanning the early 1920s to the present—from traditional radio dramas and crime series to experimental sound art and podcasts. In dialogue with key theoretical approaches to radio and sound, we will examine the relationship between audio and written texts, analyze the linguistic and stylistic features of scriptwriting, and gain insight into production processes and methods. The course culminates in a creative project: the production of an original radio play or podcast.
