International Dimensions of Climate Change Policy: History, Economics, Law, and Politics
ESPP 90Z

Course Information

Description

This seminar will critically examine the history of global climate change negotiations from the perspective of economics, politics, law, history, and – of course – the relevant science.  Assigned readings will be from the scholarly literature, as well as from the best grey literature (including government reports, such as from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and various national governments), and blogs. This will be supplemented by the instructor’s 30 years of experience in leadership roles in four IPCC Assessment Reports (AR2, AR3, AR5, and AR6), as well as his participation for some 20 years in UNFCCC negotiations at the annual Conferences of the Parties (COPs) and other venues.
