Course Information
Description
Teachers develop and learn their craft from collaborating with each other, from thoughtfully internalizing research and literature on teaching, from repeated cycles of practice, responding to feedback, trying and evaluating different methods, and from systematic, sustained investigations of particular challenges. This course is designed to engage students in all of these practices, and to thereby develop students’ habits of reflection and systematic improvement in the areas of their own teaching that they establish as most important. During this course, students will engage in a complete inquiry cycle by identifying a challenge, learning from existing research, designing an intervention, using qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection, analyzing their results, and discussing how each of these processes supports and reinforces student learning and teacher efficacy in the classroom.
