Description

What does the current landscape of arts education look like? How do you fit into this landscape, and what steps can you take to build your connections to the field? This course will prepare Arts and Learning Concentrators to navigate these central questions. Together, we will map the field of arts education, identify individual interests and pathways, and explore the ideas and conversations that shape the field. In doing so, students will think critically about the purposes of the arts in education, examine questions of teaching and learning, and engage in key debates surrounding inequality and opportunity. Over the course of six convenings, students will develop a personal plan for extending their professional learning and development, grounded in a deeper understanding of the contemporary arts education ecosystem.
