Description

*Only Offered for Online Ed.M. Students* Most research on child development comes from Western societies, yet findings are often generalized to be universal to all humans. By examining research from diverse cultures and communities we can gain a greater understanding of the extent of similarities and differences in child development across the world. More specifically, students in this course will examine: (1) how culture and communities/societies shape child development, (2) the implications of cultural similarities and differences in child development for learning and teaching, and (3) the importance of conducting work that recognizes and values the diversity and potential of every child.
