Clinical Data Science: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
CI 712

Course Information

Description

This course extends the topics introduced in Design and Analytics I and II and continues to integrate epidemiology and biostatistics with the goal of helping learners to design, conduct, and interpret clinical research studies. All methods are taught in conjunction with practical lessons using Stata. This course will cover several major areas relevant for clinical investigation, focusing on evidence synthesis using systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Topics to be covered include developing targeted searches for relevant studies, assessing quality and bias, statistical methods for combining data from multiple studies, assessing heterogeneity, publication bias, and interpetability of results.

This course emphasizes critical thinking and practical applications. Students will complete a team project for this course: a publishable systematic review and meta-analysis paper.

Course components will include live sessions, readings, STATA tutorial sessions, and a group project.
